ASSESSOR

The assessor is responsible to maintain a current inventory of all real property in the town.  This inventory is used to establish a fair market value which then becomes the assessed value for the property.  The office is also responsible for the receipt and administration of partial or whole tax exemptions.

What and when is Grievance Day?

Property owners who feel they are over assessed have the right to present their information to an impartial Board of Assessment Review. Grievance Day is the 1st Tuesday in June.

A property owner may request a review of their assessment and inventory at any time.

How do I apply for a Veteran’s exemption?

Please contact the Genesee County Veterans Service Agency at 585-344-2580.  After completing the application please mail or drop off the application at the Town Hall by March 1st.

What is the income limit for the Senior Citizen Low Income exemption?

$24,999 including social security.
